Why We Built This Site
New York does not place every part of a criminal history in one public database. Monroe County Sheriff records document county custody, while a court file records charges, appearances, and the final disposition. The Monroe County Clerk keeps Supreme and County Court felony conviction files, but not Rochester City Court or town and village proceedings. DCJS maintains the official fingerprint-linked statewide history for personal record review, and the Office of Court Administration runs separate public court-search products. We organize the official portals, request methods, fees, and office contacts that explain those boundaries.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency contacts: where to reach the Monroe County Sheriff, court clerks, and statewide record systems
- Official check instructions: how DCJS fingerprint record review differs from an OCA name-and-date-of-birth search
- Record guides: how Monroe County court, arrest, booking, and registry sources differ
- Record sealing information: which New York processes begin in the court that handled the case
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site with no connection to a New York court, sheriff's office, police department, or state agency. Its role has firm limits:
- We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
- We cannot file record-sealing motions, FOIL requests, or any other paperwork on your behalf
- We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that each listed phone number, fee, address, or office hour remains current
Only the issuing office, such as the Monroe County Sheriff, the proper court clerk, or DCJS, can provide an official record.
Search Partners
Third-party providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. Those providers control their services, prices, and results. We may receive a referral fee when a tool leads to a paid enrollment, which helps support free access to this reference material. We neither set a partner's charges nor decide what its search returns.
